Ayurvedic Massage - Abhyanga/Vishesh

This traditional Ayurvedic massage enlivens, cleanses and revitalizes the mind and body. Warm herbalized oils are applied to the skin followed by a rhythmic massage to help restore the flow of vital energy (prana) in the body. Stimulating the arterial and lymphatic circulation, it enhances the delivery of nutrients to tissues and the removal of stagnant waste. Tailored to your needs, the medicinal oils and massage techniques are chosen to help you find balance.

The Abhyanga technique is focused on grounding the nervous system, calming Vata Dosha and can help with stress management, sleep disturbances, fatigue and more.

More vigorous in nature, the Vishesh technique is more focused on detoxification, balancing Kapha Dosha and may be especially helpful for lethargy, depression, blockages due to stress, and lack of motivation.

Your therapist will help you choose which is most suited to your needs. This treatment is indicated for all body types, and will be adapted to your doshic needs.

Shirodhara - mind balancing treatment

In this deeply relaxing treatment, a continuous stream of warm herbalized oil is poured on the forehead to bring balance to the nervous system. Designed to encourage the flow of prana (life force energy), Shirodhara brings a sense of coherence to one’s entire being. During this treatment, brainwaves slow and a state of ease is supported in the mind, buffering the burden of the stress we all carry. Perfect for anxiety, insomnia, overstimulation, and other manifestations of stress, Shirodhara is the ultimate antidote to our busy lifestyles.

Balancing to all dosha, shirodhara is one of the most powerful treatments to relieve vata in the mind.

The deeply healing effects of shirodhara are most profound when the treatment is done in a series of three or more.

Abhyanga Garshana - lymphatic massage

Garshana is a light brushing of the skin with raw silk gloves that increases warmth, enhances circulation and gently exfoliates the skin, preparing the body to receive warm oil treatment. This technique also produces static electricity, which promotes the flow of blood and lymph, naturally detoxifying  the tissues of the body. Garshana is added to any full-body treatment.

This treatment may be especially helpful for lymphatic congestion, poor circulation, fatigue, muscle stiffness and lethargy and may improve immune function.

Garshana is especially indicated for excess kapha or ama (toxins), and is balancing to all doshas.

This treatment is contraindicated during menses and first trimester of pregnancy.
